.. it’s quite obvious that a chain of events – and apps – has provided the perfect online environment for stupid people to spread their “wisdom”.. for those of you who don’t get it or are just to young to be aware of the truth and the bishops behind it, here’s the trail towards the light..
.. anyone remember the famous IRC client?!.. mIRC was the God app of all chat-addicted Internet users.. at the turn of the century, there was no PC with Internet connection that lacked this icon from its desktop.. it was simple, easy to use.. perfect for the dial-up connections and low bandwidth environment available at that time.. according to wikipedia..
mIRC is an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client for Microsoft Windows, created in 1995 and developed by Khaled Mardam-Bey. Although it is a fully functional chat utility, its integrated scripting language makes it extensible and versatile.
mIRC has been described as “one of the most popular IRC clients available for Windows.” It has been downloaded over 30 million times from CNET’s Download.com service. In 2003, Nielsen/NetRatings ranked mIRC among the top ten most popular Internet applications.
.. I kinda miss it sometimes.. it was fun, and a big part of my teenager life.. helped with boredom and picking up girls.. don’t know who still uses mIRC or why, but it might come in handy well.. ’till that time comes, it will remain a fun memory.. oh well..
.. but all that would come to a brutal stop, because more user-friendly and interactive environments were about to take over the world..
.. Hi5, dude, was the next contraption to captivate the world’s attention.. well, maybe the kids and teenagers were affected more.. much more.. but still.. I was a freshman in college at that time, and you were a damn paria if you had no hi5 account.. besides, it was cool.. pictures, animations, apps, games.. actually, as I see it, it was the Big Bang event of Social Media..
hi5 is a social networking site based in San Francisco, California. The company was founded in 2003 by Ramu Yalamanchi. By 2008, comScore reported that hi5 had become the third most popular social networking site in terms of monthly unique visitors.

.. it took over quite a lot of our spare time using it, tweaking it and click-ing the hell out of profiles and links.. but at one point it started to get boring, quite annoying.. due to idiots abusing the platform and transforming it into a redneck, tacky, fucked up C.V. site with a single purpose – trying to show the world the coolness of certain suspicious characters.. so, I gave it up and quit trying to seek the utility of such websites..
.. I remember there being a Hi5-like website, in between, something with “M”.. but, damned if I remember its name.. not really worth Google-ing about it, it wasn’t important or different in any way.. just a copy-cat meant to get money out of suckers..
.. by 2004 Facebook was launching.. heard a lot about it and from a lot of people, but totally ignored it.. I didn’t feel like going through the same shit all over again.. had no use with a personal profile with pics and personal description, not to mention other people’s shit scrolling down before my eyes.. I got curios enough – around 2007, if I remember correctly – to create an account.. I’ve been using it ever since..
Facebook is a social networking service launched in February 2004, owned and operated by Facebook, Inc. As of June 2012, Facebook has over 955 million active users, more than half of them using Facebook on a mobile device. Users must register before using the site, after which they may create a personal profile, add other users as friends, and exchange messages, including automatic notifications when they update their profile. Additionally, users may join common-interest user groups, organized by workplace, school or college, or other characteristics, and categorize their friends into lists such as “People From Work” or “Close Friends”.

.. I’ve got a private profile, and a restricted number of friends.. a few defining photos of me, and the rest.. links to things i read, view or think are interesting on the web.. I don’t use Facebook for chatting, dating or trying to look cool.. I’ve used Facebook to create and interesting feed containing interesting of relevant information – both from friends or organizations and dedicated websites – that keeps me up to date and improves my knowledge and helps me make use of the time spent online.. if you’re not a real life friend of mine or not interesting, you won’t find your name in my list of friends.. no games, no pick-up lines, no stupid apps, no stupid or retarded pics.. just me, myself and the web..
.. so, how do I use Facebook?!.. I can’t really say I’m social and keen on collecting online friends or subscribers.. I try to use Facebook as an online tool, that can – and will – provide necessary information or updates useful or needed for anybody or any domain around..
.. how you use it is your business.. do whatever the hell you want.. don’ t expect me to like it.. there’s already a bunch of idiots and bitches abusing the platform and contaminating it with idiotic profiles, pics and status updates.. I don’t know how much I’ll last, but when the shit hits the fan again, I’m out..
.. meanwhile, let me refresh the page and check if there’s an update or not..
